Doh I see that. Well, it's at least getting views, so people will recognize the donut. I sold my hb's a year ago. I sure don't miss that boat and pointer either.

I see you helped me out. Thanks. It seemed to me with my 797, I would lose tracking. maybe that was prior to one of the new updates.

I see what your saying but if it is still tracking at .5 how accurate is the donut to the brush pile chaunc is fishing. What I mean is what would you guess, trying to learn something.

If your GPS antenna has a clear view, you'll be pretty accurate. There is a GPS diagnostic screen that will tell you the accuracy. I don't know the number, but at some number of satellites ( I'm thinking 4 or 5 ) it is as accurate as it will be and you'll have maybe a 3-5 foot error. ( That's from memory, which don't always work, so it could be a little more or less ).

As a side note, I can turn my unit on in the garage with the garage door down and it picks up my location with a 16 foot error in that situation.

I'd like to see a split scree with the diagnostic, and the map. It sure seems to me like when I had the donut, and then sped up, I'd get a rather large correction. Could be mistaken though.

I'll be out on the water tomorrow. I can't do a split screen of diagnostics and map.

CP, i was slow trolling from my bow seat. Every time i slowed down when i'd get near my point, i'd lose my signal and miss my spot badly. Ended up throwing a marker out as i moved past it at 1.0. That was the only way i could stay on the spot.

Thanks chaunc. I couldn't get the video to play on my laptop. We are having Charter problems because of the weather.

Chaunc...I think the issue is not that you are actually losing your signal received from the GPS......but rather that the unit doesn't have the adequate processing algorithm calculations written into the software to interpret and plot what that data is telling the unit...

Tom, can you better explain (in layman's terms) what is happening (or not happening) in the HB unit that causes the unit NOT to display the "boat shaped directional tracking icon" at speeds of less than 0.5mph...??
