well I must say that I am now leaning to the HB side because I can use the interlink, lookin real hard at the 788ci HD DI. do you guys think the interlink is the way to go or wait on the ethernet setup ?

Not to bash HB, but with the LSS-I you can share info as well, it has an ethernet hub in it. One guy on here who has both systems, is saying Lowrance is the way to go. I am not sure what is best, not for me, not for anyone, but I would suggest you tinker with them at the store and see which ones work best for you. Lowrance allows you to build it as you go, where HB makes you buy it all at once. There seem to be pros and cons to each, and I think you ought to check out usability. Many say HB is more intuitive, but once you get used to Lowrance it's easy as well. More intuitive may be important to you. The easier it is to learn the shorter the learning curve most of the time, so you may be doing more faster with the HB gear, though with the higher end HDS8 and 10 you do have programmable keys which should also make them pretty easy to use. I'm not sure there are any easy answers.

I would think the interlink would be fine for most uses unless you want to switch views on the 2d sonar.

Ive been tryin to find some extensive reading on the ethernet setup and I have found a little, it seems it would be faster but I cant seem to figure out just what to cost difference would be, that will be a big player in it Im sure

    thanks

yea but which ones to get ?? looks like you gotta buy like 3 of them and the some adapter and such, cant figure out what I will need when it becomes availabe ?? Stymie, can you share a map card with the inter link ? it says that you "cant" with the ethernet. I think I also read where the ethernet was a little buggy with the new s/w on a 898

2 units cannot share a map card..this is Navionics way of making you buy 2 cards...more money for them....
