Default Testing interference out of the water

Hope this isn't to crazy of a question but does anyone know--{CANE POLE}--if interference will show up on sonar with the trolling motor out of the water? The noise is definitely trolling motor related. Every time you hit the go switch on the motor it puts a vertical line on the sonar screen. I haven't tried it yet but it would be great if it will do it on the trailer while I am trying some of the fixes this winter.

It might, depending on how it's getting there. Your motor won't be the same electrical load in air as it is in the water, so the EMI induced in the power wires won't be as great. You should really drop the motor in a tank of water, both for cooling and to increase the load. Don't run the motor in air for more than a few seconds.

Thanks CATFan. I've been trying to think of something for water but can't bee too big because I'll be doing this in my garage. Pretty cold up here. I only plan on tapping the button for a second. Thats all it takes in the water. It will be interesting to see what it does.
