    Default Lowrance Mark-5x DSI?

Anybody tried one of these yet? I'm running the HDS units but with this being new I was wondering if it will have as many bugs as the HDS units did when they first come out. I use the downscan 99% of the time and love it. Would love to have one of these up front on the trollin motor.

I haven't used one, but I sold my HDS 5 with plans on buying the Elite 5 DSI for the bow and a HDS 8 to go with the structure scan in the back. I may not be able to catch 'em but I'll be able to find them.

    Hey Chris,
Maybe we can get Canepole to make us a transducer switch and just buy the LSS-1 transducer. I am having the same thoughts but it looks like to me another LSS-1 is in my future. Looking at making a stationary bracket some how attached to the top part of the TM shaft so when you turn the trolling motor the LSS-1 puck does not swivel and distort the image. The HDS 5 screen is really small after you get use to the HDS-10 screen size. ..Downscan rules!

    ifish,
I wonder if we could just buy the transducer that comes with the Elite 5 and hook it to one of our HDS units? I would rather do that than spend another 550 on a whole flippin' unit that I don't need.

Chris. That is an interesting idea feller. I see BPS advertising the new Mark-5DSi but they are sold out. I just sent my HDS-8 back to Lowrance because of bubbles around the edge of the screen. I was thinking of gettiting another LSS-1 puck and unplugging my back one for awhile. Just switch from back to front by plugging in which ever one I want to use.

Chris, it's my understanding that the transducer cable on the DSI units is similar to the X-96. There is one cord with the power and transducer in the same plug. Why not sell your HDS-5? I did and got almost enough out of it to pay for the DSI.

Call Brian at BBG Marine, he'll take of you. I just ordered a HDS-8 and a Elite-5 DSI, the 8 should be here early next week and the DSI will ship when they are released.
