That has the same effect as a weak battery. But, that being said, when my HB788 is turned on on the bow and I crank the big motor, the 788 goes off and stays off until I press the power button again, and I have a brand new cranking battery that stays charged.

I had the same problem. Sold my HB and kept my new crank battery.
