Maybe not. I went to the battery and found that the positive terminal had some corrosion under the conections. I cleaned them and hooked everything back up. I keyed the mic. several times and never could get it to loose power again.
I hope I have fixed the problem. What do you think....could this have been the problem?
That has the same effect as a weak battery. But, that being said, when my HB788 is turned on on the bow and I crank the big motor, the 788 goes off and stays off until I press the power button again, and I have a brand new cranking battery that stays charged.

Same thing used to happen with my HB's all the time. I sold the boat, gave away the HB's with the boat. Replaced the boat, and bought Lowrance HDS units for the new boat.
May have been a bit of an over reaction on my part, but had to justify buying a different boat/electronics.
Mine does the same thing but first thing in the morning when the bat is fully charged its ok. But after a while with the livewell running it does it. I have a 24 group batt, going to go 27 and hook livewell to TM batt. I was thinkling the same thing, weak battery. Will let you know come spring
