    Default d.c. switch

I have learned this is the place to get information. Can you install a rorary switch on a Motorguide, 5 speed trolling motor in order to slow the first speed. Would I be better off trading it in and buying one with a variable speed control....... Thanks for any help....

No it won't carry the amperage needed. Watch e-bay for a Minnkota Maximizer.

A 5 speed TM can be changed to a varible speed TM,but you will end up paying as much as you could buy another TM.

Sometimes a different prop can slow it down enough to make a difference. Just adding a switch won't do it.

You can also trim the blades down to displace less water....I would only recommend doing this to a spare prop....

Vibration from trimming uneven is also a disadvantage of this ..but still..if you have a spare prop...it might be worth a try...
