Where to buy new 1198C SI right now?

Been searching the web, there's places where you can "pre-order" the new SI models right now, but anticipated delivery isn't until Feb 2011. I'd like to get one before then because I've got structure to get out and my old one has just gone Tango Uniform. Don't want to buy a lesser model now only to turn around and buy the 1198.

Anyone know if there's any places where it will be available soon? Even HB's website is not talking about it yet.

Talked with John at J&H and he said HB was supposed to release the 1100 series in November but obviously didn't make it. Right now, he says he "may" hear something around 16 December, but it might be another delay message. Just kinda quiet right now.

I don't think that there is any reason to expect that 1198s will hit the shelves prior to the end of the year.

There are good deals to be had on 1197s, and the differences between the 1198s and the 1197s are, in my opinion, relatively minor. I do have a good connection with an independent retailer who has a few 1197s left....drop me a note if you'd like more information.

Not sure what the changes are beyond the USB connection, which would be very handy for downloading files and pictures. Are there any other changes?

Both the 1197 and the 1198 will be ethernet-networking capable (the 1197 already has the hardware). The 1197 will need a free software update to turn the networking feature on, and the 1198 is ready out-of-the-box.

The 1198 will have an updated PCB/processor, and a brighter screen for better daylight visibility.
