Exide makes Wal-Mart batteries right here in my hometown, there's a lot of interesting "stuff" with them. They have at least 3 different companies that buy their blems or 2nds. We use them cause we get them cheap. And they make batteries for lots of different companies just as stated, only diff is the stickers. Mixing old and new won't hurt your tm, but if your using an on board charger, thats where you can have serious problems. So if you manually charge no problems. If you do mix, put the new one on your + out cable, this should help in your run time. Johnson Controls WAS making Interstate and Die-Hard, I'm not sure if this is still true, but the 2 above companies are the only ones with the capacities for production.
All lakes raise a foot when I step in the boat
I've had several different brands in the past. Don't think any one brand is better than the other although a pro friend of mine recommends only Interstate but he might own stock so who know? In my opinion it's a lot like coooking fish, it's not the fish that tasts bad it's how you prepared it. It's not the battery that's bad it's how you maintained it. There's one thing about batteries...you get what you put into them. Keep them well maintained, water levels, recharging fully after fully drained... those are the things that will serve up a long battery life. On the other hand, if you mistreat, allow to freeze, partially recharge or charge before completely drained... that's when you get stuck with a battery that won't start the engine or run the trollin motor while the wind drifts you further out into the lake. If you're gonna do that I'd recommend a heavy anchor.
Thanks Guys for the input, the TM battery has not been used all that much & been on charge tested great under load so , think I will try and get one more dc27 for up fount, and hook them for 12v now untill I can get the 24vTM.then change them around for 24V, Know any place that sells DEKA batteries in NW ALABAMA ??? right off hand???
THANKS

HARLEYBOY,
I have been the route with batteries. Deka is a good battery. You can probably get them at NAPA. They, like anything else that's half way good are a little expensive. IMHO Interstate is a no no.
I personally like the maintenance free battery. I have had the best success with the Delco Voyager. They are a also a little expensive and hard to find. I got the last ones from an AC DELCO dealer. The Delco's that I currently have have been in the boat for 6 years and are still going strong. I have an on-board 3 bank charger to maintain them.

the interstates i had and the everstart are maintained the same ,bought 2 interstates at the same time and they won`t make it a full 3yrs and i know everstarts will, will never buy another interstate marine or 4wheeler battery(thats what is on my fourwheeler 2yrs and acts like its going bad)but the interstate automible batteries i have owned have been the best ive ever owned .
Get 2 new batteries for the 24V and use the 27 battery you have now for a cranking battery
