    Default HBIRD unit problem

Hey guys I installed a humminbird lcd, the model number slips my mind, last winter on my center console aluminum boat. It has been working fine. But here lately while I am running down the river the screen clears out. I usually pop it off the bracket and slip it back on and it works fine IF i keep some hand pressure on it while running. I am sure its the vibration, but how can i tighten it down. I have always despised humminbird quik mount deal

What are you meaning by “the screen cleans out”? Do you mean that it is loosing the bottom reading or that the display goes blank?

I would start by checking that the cables are still fully inserted into the connector collector plastic part and that the ‘fingers’ of the metal part that holds the connectors have not been bent (these should be bent at a 90 degree angle to the rest of the metal part). Than make sure that you tighten the screws that hold the metal and plastic connector collector parts to the mount.

My Matrix 87c used to do that. I tried everything. Finally figured out the problem. I had the 2 screw that hold the wiring harness in the mount, too tight and it was putting the plugs in a bind. Backed them off about 1/2 turn & it never did it again.

    Default re hbird mount issue

I took the metal piece out that holds the power and transducer plug off, plugged them in and snapped unit back on mount. I havent been back on the water but I wiggled it pretty good and it wouldnt go off so that part must be the problem. May just leave it like that. thanks for info

Did the same thing to my matrix 12 several months ago and the problem went away.
