Wiring
I hope this is the correct forum. If not please move it.
I have a 16 ' Jon Boat with a steering wheel. I keep one of the batteries under the console. It got to be a pain to run the fishing light wire across the boat and hook it up to the battery. The cord seams to get in the way.
I have been sick for the past few days and the Dr said to lay around today. So I went to the basement and decided to run a wire under the rib of the boat and place a plug in on the side of the boat. I screwed the box on the side of the rib. I then took the light that I bought from Bob # 1 and placed a plug in on the wire. Now I can just plug it in and toss it overboard. No more wires to worry about.
I have to put another on the front of the boat for the other light and the pole light. I hope they work out well. Is there anything that I should watch out for??
Also, wonder if I can put a plug on the trolling motor and just plug it in??? Any drawbacks to this? I have a ton of the plugs that I can place on basically anything that hooks to the battery for power. My 6 year old said we can take a tv now daddy and watch tv while we fish. I told him that it was the wrong kind of power and a regular tv wont work.
Thanks!!

Make sure you install a fuse at the battery for your wiring. A scrape in the insulation could blow a hole in the boat.
Plugging in the TM will take a fairly large connector rated at 30A or more.

I think I will just use the clamps for the trolling motor. I have the wire hidden for it. Thanks for the fuse suggestion. I did not even think about a short. I can put a in-line fuse. What amp should I use??
