Your settings must be off because my 997 would show them just like they look out of the water. I have found those plastic ones before and that is what they look like under the water. To get the best pics, you need to put your SI distance at about 60ft and use your whole screen with only the side scan. Your not going to be able to see much detail with the sonar ane the down scan on the same screen. I have seen other people's units look just like yours as for as detail goes. Mine is very crisp and clear. I have been running this 997 for over 3yrs and it is pretty fine tuned. I can see the square openings in a concrete block. Sometime Canepole when I am at Big Sandy and your going to be there, I will show you what mine looks like.
