I have the V-2 with auto pilot. When I installed the I-pilot, I had to remove 6 wires off the auto pilot and stow them on dummy connectors. Other than the round plug connection, there were 2 steering wires to connect. Would you happen to know if the I-Pilot or it's controller took a dump, would my V-2 work with the foot pedal if I just connected those 2 wires? I'd hate to be away on a trip and the I-pilot fail and then be without a trolling motor. Thanks!
I believe you are correct. You could actually install a switch that switches between the IPilot steering output and the Control board steering output. Just change the connector to the desired input (Ipilot or foot control). This is what the multiplexer will do except you don't have to change the plugs, just flip a switch to select control. I am just multiplexing the control outputs of the Ipilot with the foot control (thus the need for mating connectors). I will eventually find who makes the connectors. I am just ironing out the details.
Pretty straight forward circuitry. It will work. The circuit board will be about 2.5 by 3.5 inches. Little box size or maybe put it in the cover with the PWM controller.
The cables are probably outsourced, likely china. I doubt if it is Minnkota specific connector. The cost to set up would raise the COGS significantly.
