Transducer on trolling motor

I will start by admitting that I am well behind the times when it comes to fishing tech. I fish my home waters 99% of the time and know them like the back of my hand. Just a few days ago I decided to take a major step, at least for me, forward and got a SI unit. on it's very first run, 1 minute into that run, before it ever got to be turned on for the very first time, one of the mounting clamp screws on my outboard broke, the motor spun off the transom and flew into the river. In the action of coming off it broke off my transducer. I cannot get another transom mount, but got my hands on a trolling motor mounted one. This leads to my question, how well does side imaging work on the trolling motor?? Wouldn't the image change every time the motor rotated to control boat? I am thinking it would have the same or even a worse effect on DI once you found your spot to fish. Also I wanted the SI to scan long stretches of water to find new spots to fish and I would want to troll with the outboard for that so I didn't kill my battery before I got to fish. Am I missing something here?

I would hold out for a new transom motor. Sorry to hear of your bad luck. That was a one yeo punch for sure. What brand transducer mount are you looking for?

It's a Humminbird Helix 7 MSI G3N, It is not just the mount, the transducer is gone, all I have left is a broken wire.

Side imaging is very usable on the trolling motor ... even tho turning the trolling motor does skew the image ...

If some interesting target is seen - simply stop the boat and reverse travel backing the boat past the target again ... side imaging works in reverse also ...

Then once past the target traveling in reverse - simply stop the boat and resume forward travel trying to keep the trolling motor as straight as possible when passing the target the 3rd time ...

I have one on my trolling motor and love it ! After using it for a bit you will figure it out and it becomes such a great tool !
after speeding time with it I can find blue gill beds moving less than 1 mph ! And structure is very easy to see on it as well!

I gave it a shot and mounted it to my trolling motor. I don't think it got a fair chance though as the wind was pretty high yesterday and I had to use the TM constantly to keep the boat in position, so all I really saw on DI and SI was wavy elongated images. I am going to give it a little while but as a plan B, I am going to see if I can come up with a way to transom mount this TM mount transducer. I have to 3" aluminum angle that is .125 thick. I think Ican cut a 1.5" length of that to make a bracket. Just attach one side to the boat and the other to the transducer. I am thinking if I drill four holes in the angle I can shoot (4) 1/2" sheet metal screws into the transducer and that will hold it secure.
