Default I-Pilot, Auto Pilot & Co Pilot

Besides the price, what's the difference? Minn Kota's website didn't really specify. Wanting to upgrade but doing research. Opinions welcomed!!

    Thanks,

What do you want to upgrade from? I had a co-pilot and upgraded mine to an auto pilot. Now I want the i-pilot because of the speed control. In increments of .1 instead of .2 and the GPS ability. Still researching. Check with the local warranty repair shops in your area (on MinnKota website). They can tell you what you can or cannot do. Make sure that trolling motors are their business. Not a marine shop. You want someone who does TM full time.

    Good luck.

Auto pilot and co-pilot lets you set a course and a speed so the the boat essentially will drive itself. I-pilot is an improvement on these features. It has better speed control and will compensate for wind speed to maintain it's course. It also has record a track feature and a spot lock feature that works like an electronic anchor. if you haven't purchased yet, and money isn't tight, definately go with the i-pilot.

Auto pilot keeps the boat going in the direction selected. Co pilot gives you remote control over your motor so you don't need the foot pedal.

Thanks for the replies. That's the info I was looking for. I haven't got anything yet just wanting to replace old motor guide cable steer.

Call the 800 number on Minn Kota's website. They be glad to help explain any questions you have. They helped me choose mine: MK PD 70 with I-Pilot. Love it too. Kind of wished I got the Terrova since it comes with the foot pedal too (for shooting docks so my hands will be free) but decided not spend the extra money on it and it hasn't been an issue.

Just remember you don't need co-pilot or auto pilot. I f you buy it you wasting your money. You will remove those components when you put the I-pilot on. also make sure you have univesal sonar also that cable will not last when the motor starts doing it's thing. Some units have i-pilot installed when bought. replacing the auto pilot and co-p with the i-p you will have to do some cutting and splicing. Looked a little confusing to me. Mine is on the power drive 2 55# us2 love it. Hope this helps ya.

Co-pilot - Allows you wireless capibility to control your motor anywhere from the boat.
Auto pilot - Point your trolling motor in a direction with autopilot turned on and the motor will stay in that direction or any direction you turn the motor to, if your boat turn the motor will adjust to the directino you pointed the motor to.
I-pilot - replaces the co-pilot and advances the auto pilot - you get wireless remote control of your boat same as the co pilot, but the advances of the auto pilot, spot lock (allows you to keep the trolling motors locked in the gps signal. Works great on rivers, point it up stream, spot lock, and the motor will do the work to keep you in the spot. It also has track recording, start a track, drive your motor along a weedline or drop off, and when you get to the end, press return, and it will return you to the same spot your started using the same track and speed. GPS speed not motor speed.)

Works great on Power Drives and Terrova Model.
