    Question Hummlnbird software

I've had a 727 about 3 years. Is there any benefit in updating the software ?

Yes, there have been about four upgrades for the 727 over the last three years. When you install the latest software you will get all of those upgrades in one single file. I’m assuming here that you are running the 3.240 version software than you should get:

New depth algorithm to improve performance at high speeds. Improved FishID algorithm. Adds Sonar Recording. US2 transducer support. CannonLink support. InterLink support. Wide line track style. Aux Temp readout. Navaids shown in Bird’s Eye View. Support for HCSD (High-Capacity SD) cards larger than 2GB. Rotate through the menu tabs and items. Reset the connection to an InterLink after reprogramming it. Improve deep water depth algorithm performance. Improves Continuous Navigation Mode functionality. The current track is saved even if power is lost. Improves InterLink stability. Disables Input Voltage Low warning. Improved GPS refresh rate (if you are using a GPS Receiver).

But does he know what it really means. I know you do, since you probably created the word. :D

    That's Al's favorite dance music.

He discovered this 'rithm after judicious application of a some heuristic salve to his ears.

I had one, worthless to me after I figured out I could buy a card reader/writer
thingamajig that plugged into the usb port on my puter for about $10 at
wallyworld. And a 1G blank card, plenty for anything I've done.
Copy updates to it, plug 'em in with unit on the boat, pwr
on and presto. Same for moving gps points back and forth, lots better
to me than dealing with the cord and the 9V batteries. They don't last
but a blink, $$$, and if they drop too low while you're doing an update,
    you're in trouble.

    edit -
But just realized you said 727 - does it have card slot? If not, disregard my post!

Mr. White, pardon the amateurish questions about this subject, but can you provide more details about the thingamajig, and will a 4G card be ok in place of your aforementioned 1G blank card. I'm not being a smart alec, just tired of returning stuff to to Best Buy. thanks.
