You're probably have the unit set on Course Up rather than North Up and when you get the donut, the chart probably rotates around and discombobulates ya! I also have it Course Up.
Have to admit, haven't seen this yet but when I'm stopped, usually looking at the sonar like I mentioned before.
Unfortunately, I'll probably now see this on my next outing and be annoyed to no end!
