    Default 12vdc plug

I need to add a cig type plug up front to plug in my GPS. I guess it should connect to the trolling motor batteries right?

is your TM 24 volt or 12? If possible I would hook the outlet to the cranking battery, with a 3-5 amp fuse in there somewhere too...

Use your start battery. You talking about milliamps here.

Use the cranking battery. Trolling motors will sometimes cause electrical interference in electronic devices.

yes as stated above wire it to the cranking battery, must all trolling motors cause bucketfuls of interference, it will have you singing when trying to view your GPS. I know trollers screw up the FF really bad and believe same would happen with GPS.

Ditto. I installed a new trolling motor ahnd had to re-wire my DF to get rid of interference. Doing it right the first time would be better.

Oldwun,I don't know what kind of boat you have but on my ranger it has a power board coming from the main battery,up front. If you have this, just run your plug off this board with the inline fuse on the postive side.
