That's the normal response when the i-Pilot control head is not powered (installed and motor deployed). It prevents the battery from wearing out.

to messing with my ipilot but dont have it mounted yet. my question is about the remote itself, when I press a button on the remote the display lights up then goes back off, is this normal since I dont have the head connected to my motor ? also has anybody every changed the battery on the remote, what size ? I glanced at the manual this morning before I left for work but didnt see anything about changing the battery.
thanks

Battery is a CR2450 coin cell. Pick you up a spare to keep on the boat![]()
Manual say's not to use Panansonic brand for some reason.
