    When you are running your chart speed a setting 1, does this compress the image any? What ping speed do you use when recording at the lower speeds?

    I don't do very much recording, so changing the ping speed isn't something I've done often.

    I see no compression at low chart speeds....as long as I'm moving at a low boat speed. However, image compression does become an issue when chart speed and boat speed are mismatched. Below is a portion of a screen capture that was written with a chart speed of 1 and a boat speed of nearly 6 mph, leading to compression of the objects (8 x 8 log fish cribs) in the image.

    For comparison, this is what that same row of fish cribs looks like when the boat speed and chart speed are correlated correctly. Here, the chart speed is 4 and the boat speed is 5.3 mph.

    I get compression on occasion when recording. This explains why very well. I like pictures.
