As you can see I like stirring the pot... Doesn't really matter to me either, heck I don't even have a hds unit(522icgps)... All I am trying to say is maybe HB was left with no other choice than to appoint 2 guys to read thru forums from day to day so that the complaints would not get out of hand...And if they would have had this stuff right in the first place there would have been alot happier HB users...I have never had to use Lowrances customer service...Just poking fun Cane Pole.:D

Isn't HB an alabama corp? If so I think it's awful ironic how HB and companies like ROAD RUNNER, take an existing technology or product and "patent" it then sue the people who invented it. They like to do that over there a lot.
Cane Pole eats stale donuts. He admitted in this forum. I think it is pretty neat that the HB guys post here on c.c. I see no harm being done. Lowrance vs HB.. kind a like Ford vs Chevy.
Here's a 7 page link to folks raving about their great Lowrance's and company service. How long to get my Lowrance back from the factory? - Walleye Message Central
I don't know why it is but regardless of how the thread starts it will always fall into a Humminbird vs Lowrance debate. Just like on icefishing site its Marcum vs Vexilar.
If anyone doubts that Lowrance has a CS service problem dial their service number and time how long it takes until you get an answer. Then do the same with Humminbird. If you are hard to convince do it 3 or 4 times. Time to answer will reflect quite a bit if you think about it.
1. Not enough CS reps cause long answering delays. Reflects companys dedication to CS
2. Defective merchandise will trigger flood of calls. Reflect company's commitment to quality.
3. Picture yourself with a 1500-2000 dollar investment to improve your fishing . And it spends more time at the manufacturer than on the console of your boat. How high will your blood pressure soar ?
I am not going to bother to say which units I have. But believe me I did a ton of research before making a decision. This site plus many others was used to find out what I needed to know.
People have a way of adopting a brand of car , boat etc and it is the greatest simply because they own it. Their decision to buy it in the first place needs to be constantly justified. One thing my old man taught me " Buy in haste repent at your leisure. " Actually what he did say was saltier but this is a family site.
Garminarmin gpsmap 1040 xs networked with Garmin gpsmap 1242 xsv , Panoptix PS 30 and PS 31. Livescope LVS 32
Ice rig Echomap Ultra 106SV with LVS 12 and GT10-IF
Just let 'em keep fighting back and forth. More competition is a good thing for us. Better products and lower prices. I haven't bought one yet myself for several reasons, on being money. I'll be watching closely to see which unit proves better. My guess is they will both have their strengths and weaknesses. Will have to choose which one best fits YOUR individual fishing needs. I know guys who swear by both brands. They can't all be wrong.

I don't own a Lowrance but I'm pretty sure the Lowrance GPS refreshes 5X second.........HB's is still only 4X second...
The technology of getting that donut to go away is out there...HB just hasn't decided to implement it yet......
And I sincerely HOPE that the word..."yet".....is the key here...and soon... I hope....
