    Default Interlink

How many are using an interlink??
If I find something on my 997 and mark it,can't you move up front fast and drop the trolling motor and find that same structure since you are real close?
Even better if you toss a marker on top of it.

Yes if you have another HB unit (up front) and the interlink the waypoints are shared or thats how mine works. I have a 1197 on console and a 777c2 on trolling motor connect with the interlink.

    WHich GPS does it use.
I have a 797 up front that has an internal GPS.
The 997 on my dash has the external one.
Is the internal one in the 797 as good as the new external one for my 997??
Can you pick which which GPS the system uses??

My understanding is the waypoint is marked with the GPS of the the unit marking the waypoint.

The external GPS puck is the better one.

I may not sure but I don't think you can pick which GPS receiver to use when marking a waypoint.

I have two external GPS pucks one connect direct to each unit. The console unit GPS puck is direct over the rear transducer, my bow GPS puck is over my trolling motor transducer.
Hope this helps. It's fun ain't it??

what you are saying is correct. Just don't hook the GPS puck from the 997 to the interlink. Let both units use their own GPS. Only hook the units to the interlink and they will share just fine. Had that setup on my old boat.

If I were you, I think I'd throw a marker out. The humminbird DONUT makes it really hard to sit on your structure that you marked if you are depending on waypoints and not really moving.

And now, if the water ever gets soft, I will get to try it all out! Actually, glad to see this post from you Mike - Have a question for you (or anybody who can answer it) on Interlink. When I'm idling around and see something, I assume I hit "mark" on the 979 at the console - but how do I get that to the 788 up front (and vice versa)?

It will make the point on your unit up front also. At least that's how mine works.

As long as you have both units participating fully with the interlink, they'll both see the waypoint.

When the Ice clears up there, I'll try to set up a weekend day that we can meet up there and I'll run you through it, and show you the best place to fish during winter on Smithville. Shady lakes cove.

It's my understanding that the shared waypoints are shared with both units. So if you mark a waypoint on the console the bow unit will have the same waypoint and vice versa.
