    Default Reconfiguration of sidescanners.

Ordered a US2W switch in order to connect the 997 and 797 to the same transducer. Every since they announced the down imaging update I have been mulling this over.

Both units will now be mounted side X side on console. I can use one as a strictly GPS and the other as strictly a depth and structure finder. Switch back and forth as circumstances dictate. Also kept reading where guys said the switch to the big transducer benefitted the 797. Going to remove the small compact transducer.

In case one unit does fail I have a ready back up by just flipping a switch.

The only downside I can see is not having a unit in front of boat. But I very rarely used it for my style of fishing. Can anybody else think of any other cons to doing this ?

I am not familiar with the interlink... however, it seems to me that you would have extra buttons to push to get a waypoint created from the SI to the other unit on the map???

If it automatically updates the waypoints, this is a badass setup!

Just some thoughts on your plans:
Big ducer will loose bottom when on plane way before little one...
Big ducer costs twice as much as little one to replace
Big ducer to work above speed of 6 /15 mph has to be a little deeper in water as it pushes more water equals more air bubbles @ ducer so.... I would keep both and buy that split ducer wire they sell??? it hooks up the 200/83 from the little ducer (& temp) which U will use at slow & hi speed, and it also hooks to big ducer for Side Imaging and this way U can raise up big ducer somewhat to protect it from stumps & the like. Or see about using both as u may put them on each side of boat may not get too much interference.... I need sleep
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.....

Look around here on this forum and maybe ask your question here also. This is a side imaging site for Humminbird. http//groups.yahoo.com/group/sideimaging/ (you may have to copy/paste to your address bar)

Speaking of HB SI, I have a one of the smaller SI transducers that I'd gladly part with. Fair price would get her done. Also, Canepole, I still have that Giant trolling motor transducer that has a couple severed wires, I'd be happy to just ship that thing to you if you are interested in repairing and using it?
