Thread: Lowerance HDS ?

i too have always 100% satisfied customer service.

i have only lowrance units for years.

only way i knew about that warranty thing is because i'm in the market for new hds units and was shopping around and found some new on ebay and others from individuals wanting to sell me like new units. so i called them before i bought anything.

anybody looking into new purchases owes it to themselve to look up some screen shots from the new lowrance side scan and down view. WOW! lowrance has beat humminbird if they last without problems. can't buy their sidescan along with a unit as cheap, but the view is BETTER.

cheapest way to the package in lowrance is hds5 $650 + sidescan$550 for a total of $1200. lots 'o money but state of the art.

I have to agree about the screenshots. Normal users photos are better then the stock downscan images HB have been posting. That's pretty sad for HB.

I'm still in the undecided category for my next boat. The price of the lowrance units and then having to buy the SI hardware is the problem I have. I can probably buy 2 898's and still have money in my pocket.

I say that because after owning a 797 for a couple years, the screen was WAY to small. I think it's similar to the HDS5.

Plus the HDS8 appears to have the same function buttons as the HDS10. They look pretty handy.

I am curious, where did you find the sidescan for $550? I've been looking around and Cabelas and BPS just started carrying it a few months ago for $600.

I have had no problem with Lowrance Customer Service answering my questions when I have called. If you decide to get a HDS unit, save yourself some hassle and get it from a reputable dealer (Cabelas, BPS, Gander Mountain, or your local mom and pop store / marina). Before you buy a new unit off eBay, calll Lowrance directly and find out if that unit will be covered by the warranty. Then make your decision based on their answer.

The HDS unit I have is wonderful. I have had really good results with it. I don't think you will regret getting a HDS unit. Below is the information to Lowrance:

Mduncan62, Thanks for posting that link. I just got it bookmarked! I checked out the LSS-1 and they have it for $563.28 and it includes the transducer.

the lss1 should always have the ducer, the HDS units themselves will be sold without ducer because they can be connected to existing lowrance units if they are current units

Remember you can always find it cheaper than any other place but will you get the CS from the place you bought it from. I bought my whole lowrance setup from Three Rivers Marine in PA. At anytime i can call and they will answer questions on setup, installation, etc. Can you call BPS, Cabela's or the big boxes and get help like that. More than likely no, they just want a credit card number and on to the next person in line. They were also cheaper than BPS and the other big box stores. It was $569 plus shipping.

Read your post several times, couldn't find the price comparison. Can you help??
