    Yep, same size is right CP. Different display but same 7" diagonal size with totally different electronics inside.

    Well, I've worn out a h'bird catalog and several others -
    hadn't picked up on the big power being only on the 50 freq.
    (if I understood you correctly)

    So you're saying the 997 and it's like are only putting out
    4,000 on side imaging? good to know if thats the deal.

    How do you get 4000 or 8000 watts our of 13 volts and a max of 3 amps.

    I always thought that was a lot of energy. 100 40w light bulbs. Hmmmmm...

    I can make things real simple....get the BIGGEST screen your pocket book can afford....I've got a 997 and a 957 and wish I had 11 inch screens on both of them!!!!

    I believe the transducer power is the measured vibration in water due to the oscillation or stimulation of the crystals (or other vibrating materials) in the transducer, not the electrical pressure.

    Cane Pole is right (as usual). The power rating is a measure of the amount of sound energy and not a straight DC or AC wattage reading from the input power and current.

    Also always be wary when comparing wattage as some will spec only peak-to-peak wattage ratings while others spec RMS wattage (P-P should be 8x the RMS wattage value).

    What does this mean in simple layman's terms.....as far as what the user's end results would be...??
