When I needed a inexpensive but functional FF/DS for mounting on my Kayak I went with the one that seem to have the best reviews from multiple sources. My choice was the Cuda 242. One was bought for 38.00 on clearence sale at Wally World and the other was bought at Academy for 46.00 on sale. Youd be hard pressed to beat that! Both are very functional and very practicle for the application I use them on with my Kayaks. Would I have like to have bought better FF/DS? Oh yeah but when using them on a Kayak where I might "turtle" a 600.00 dollar one with all the whistles and bells just didnt make a whole lot of sense and probably would not have made much of a difference in putting more fish on my stringer either. The addition of the Cuda 242 and a 7 amp/hr 12 volt battery has made my Kayak quiet the fish killin machine helping me make some pretty serious catches over the last 4 years. I am a simple kinda man and I like simple kinda things and while quality gear is important I am a firm believer that the fool behind the tool is more critical to sucess in the equation. If you cant skillfully use it, even the best tool in the world is almost useless!
