You’ve got it right J. The ContourXD maps replace the UniMap in those models that got the UniMaps before (the non-NVB Chartplotter model units).
Sadly, nothing has changed with the NVB maps…![]()

I'm a little confused with the contour XD -
two questions really,
1 - so this replaces the unimap on base models?
and 2 - what is the scoop on NVB? Still offerered the same as before?
Still '06 maps?

This would be for all of the 700, 800, 900 and 1100 series Chartplotter units made for the 2010 model year. I would have to look at my product catalogs at work to be sure which 2009 model units from the 700 series that are also going to be produced in 2010 will have this. I know that the only Si units going from 2009 to 2010 are the 798 and 1197 units and they will (or already have) the ContourXD maps in them.

In what way are the ContourXD maps supposed to be better than the Unimaps...??

The ContourXD maps are supposed to have actual depth contour lines on some of the lakes versus no depth contour lines on the UniMap lakes. Don’t expect the same depth contours you see on the HD lakes of the Premium and Platinum map cards from Navionics though. I’ve heard that these are only 10 or 20 foot contours.
The Humminbird factory outlet store has the 798ci SI Combo for $864.95.
1. Is that a good price and does it come with the Down Imaging feature?
2. If it doesn't come the DI feature, will I be able to update the software so it will?
3. Will the 798ci SI be able to split the screen 3 ways?
4. If it doesn't split the screen 3 ways, will I be able to update the software so it will?
Thanks
