Default Difference between Lowrance & Eagle

Looking a an Eagle 320 and Lowrance x96 and I can't see any difference. Is there anything that would make the Lowrance worth the extra money? They have the Eagle 320 a Cabelas for 149.00 and I thought that was a good deal. What do you think?

There are a couple of very minor (IMO) features that the 96 has that the 320 doesn't. I have an X96 and never use those features, but I like the unit really well for the price.

One time looking at a Eagle as compared to a Lowrance it seemed to me the connector pins on the Eagle looked to be smaller diameter and not as sturdy as compared to the pins on the Lowrance. Just an observation and interpretation on my part so you might not want to take this info to the bank. The units both appeared to be the same except for the pin or sizes.

I have a friend who has an eagle 640 I believe it is, and I have the Lowrance 522. I have much more lake detail in mine and his just shows to be a blue lake with no river channel or 10 foot depth charts.May not be an apples to apples comparison for some reason, but everything else looks almost the same as my unit does.

The main difference between a Lowrance and an Eagle is that the Eagle is probably waterproof. It's a good bet the Lowrance is NOT!

    I'm speaking from experience....times THREE!!!!

I just bought the eagle cuda 350 last week and installed it. I love it, it is the gps/depth finder combo. It is the upgrade of the 250 (which I have on my other boat and love it too). The main feature I like is the automatic plotting system which allows you to launch at any unfamiliar lake and run where ever you want and you have a plot trail to find your way back to the launch. I paid $199 at Academy for mine. I was told that the eagle is just a cheap version of the Lowrance. It probably doesn't have the detail as was mentioned in an earlier post but for what I use it for and for the price, it does what I need.

I have both and the difference is minor. The Eagles screen is not black and white like the Low. Power is another diff but for 99% of us it makes no diff. Ialso have the 640 with Hot Spots card and it works great.

I have both and cannot knock the Eagles. They have the Lowrance warrantry and my experience is they are handled the same if warrantry is needed. For the money...you cannot beat 'em.
