He had another one, a brown phase black bear boar, for company. This black one was in the 400 pound range. He wasn't at all threatening and we were able to work in the yard while he hung around and ate the deer food.

A number of years back we had one about two hundred pounds we called stinky in the cabin yard the whole summer. He took a chicken off the grill one afternoon and changed our supper menu. Generally the bear are like an old family dog and just like to lay around and eat. We enjoy watching them, especially when they bring cubs in to eat with Ma.
