Every re-heating. And I am not counting drops. If the drops were laid out end to end they'd be two inches long in a batch less than 6 ounces. Stabilizer cooks out and the smaller the plastic quantity the faster it departs. While some insist that adding this much stabilizer affects the plastic, I have not seen a change in the plastic I use at all. I am using stabilizer sold by the same company that sells the plastic to stay uniform.

Thanks for the info. I am currently using Bears stabilizer with Spike its plastic but am going to change to spike its stabilizer. Already had it planned and think that it will help especially since what You have said here. I have been giving good squirts of stabilizer, not drops too. I'll try more to see if it helps. Thanks. CF

Whos colorant are you using on the chartreuse? Maybe I'm not using enough, but yours seem way more potent yet still appears translucent

I use Bears right now and 60 drops per 1/2 cup will usually do the job for me. Its hard to get solid tails when the baits have thin tails. I think CTom is using Do-Its colorants( old Caney Creek). I believe He is using the 2X colors they offer. He makes some awesome colors for sure.CF

    G....

I'm using the X2 Do-it chartreuse colorant. Its strong stuff, only 8-10 drops to 4 ounces of plastic. I sometimes will make it stronger, maybe 12-14 drops per 4 ounces, then just let the cup cool after cooking. When I want to work some tails or another smaller bait that needs a little more intensity to the color to stand out I heat this cup up and shoot it. When I am done I add stabilizer to the left overs so its in there for the next re-heat or re-melt. When I am ready to use this portion again I add some raw plastic and heat it to temp and do my shooting. The chartreuse in all of the baits in this box has been re-heated by adding raw plastic to a stronger color since the tails here have some mass and an almost opaque chartreuse isn't needed. I do the same thing with the Fl.Pink and the Fl. Orange and those colors are in this box too.

I've mentioned this before, I don't use stabilizer in drops. In a 4 ounce cup I add maybe 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon, depending on the color.....the lighter the color the more stabilizer.

I'll mention this here too. The X2 Do-It colorants are available in 5.5 ounce bottles. I have had the same original bottles of chartreuse, fl.pink and fl. orange for over 18 months and am just now getting ready to re-place the chartreuse and the orange, both colors I use a lot of. I can opaque all three of these colors by using 14-16 drops in 4 ounces [1/2 cup] of plastic. Opaqued colors thin beautifully on a remelt for transparent use. The colors tolerate reheats nicely and hold together for several melts. If you are looking for product quality and product cost effectiveness, the X2 colorants are the clear thing.

The baits shown are really almost actionless unless you really hop them. These work great when the fish get tight-lipped. When I am fishing tight to sunken wood that is vertical in the water or along pilings I love using these baits and I like to use my index finger to tap the rod a half-dozen times as I slowly drop the bait. This makes the tail vibrate real nice. Then I let the bait rest for twenty seconds or so and repeat. If we have some chop on the water these work well under a float when drifted along the outside edge of weeds or over the tops of submerged weed beds and the waves do the action making.
