well they are called burbot or freshwater lingcod. they don't have teeth like the lingcod you catch in Alaska and no teeth like a snake head. they are up to and some say they have caught some over 40" out of the lake I caught those out of here in Wyoming. they are great fighters but reproduce faster than rabbits and will destroy a trout and bass fishery in no time.

They look ugly but after you get one and really look at them they are pretty cool. My son when he was 5 yrs old he caught 2) 32" the first night out fishing for them by himself. he wanted it mounted so we got it mounted and its pretty cool and catching them on ultra light poles ice fishing at night and on 6lb test Pline its a great time

when I said we HAD a great smallmouth bass fishery it was great until someone illegally planted them in the lake. heres a 26 1/2" ling that had this 11" smallmouth bass swallowed whole. I could see the bass talk down in its throat when I went to take my jig out and so I got some plyers and pulled it out.

this is what else it had in its belly a 7" smallmouth bass and some crawdads

Well I just wish we had some more good ice to go thin out some more of them but its to rotten so we will just have to go and thin them out fishing out of the boat at night.
