    Default where to buy

Just curious to see where some of you guys buy your plastic? Do you buy in bulk and is there a shelf life for plastisol? I'm trying to get the most for my dollar and get the best quality plastic for the best price.

it depends on which one you like the best in plastics we are still using plastic that I've had for over three years I like Calhoun and also Luer craft we are currently using their 502 which is good stuff there are so many different grades of plastic out there I couldn't tell you about all of them just those two so far I like Luer craft the best because it does not have any bubbles when you are steering it doesn't have smoke in its very easy to work with but it is expensive I think all plastics nowadays are expensive it just depends on you on which grade of plastic that you like the best you may only want to buy a pint to try out to see which one you like the best I'm sure the other guys well charm in on this eventually I've also used candy Creek good stuff little smoky but good quality plastic.

I thought about trying some of the 502 plastisol. I like the lure craft brand so far it is easy to work with.

this morning I was trying to use Calhoun plastic and I got so disgusted that I switched over to 502 for the following reasons 502 does not make any bubbles while you are steering it also it has a higher temperature tolerance we are completely changing to 502 plastic because I find it to be fantastic to work with just for the certain reason that it does not make any bubbles stirring which I love dearly we made over 200 baits this morning for a guy we have over 300 more to go today and I will be using the 502 I will be considering ordering 55 gallon drum of the 502 the only problem that I see with it is you have to keep it mixed up before you use it but it will stay okay the rest of the day but I rather be stirring a little bit to have a fantastic plastic to work with so it is number one in my book.

Good point, I'm gonna get some for sure. I'd like to get it by the gallon rather than by the quart. Nothin worse than runnin out of plastic when your runnin baits.

In my experiences, all the plastics have their quirks. But you learn how to use them properly and they work fine. Some its ok to stir while cooking and some its best to not stir. Some you have to use more stabilizer to keep from yellowing. Some smoke more.... ETC Its just one of those things that you have to find which works best for you. I agree about getting a gallon to try.

I really like MF plastic - no smell, does not smoke, does not separate, and makes a great bait. Been using it for years

m-f is online at zeiners in wichita or directly at pouryourownplastics.com after over 12 years of using all of these aforementioned plastisols i started buying directly from lureworks/ispikeit several years ago (by the drum) i only do hand injection but the mix i use can also be used by handpourers and is softer than any mass produced bait on the market. there is also bears baits, jacobs, caney creek, m-f, janns, and a couple others. contact lureworks though and ask for a sample of 1 or 2 mixes that they reccommend and make an educated decision because trust me what works for me or the next guy doesnt mean it works for everyone. we all work differently just like plastisols. good luck with your new addiction...LOL

Jon makes a good point that you want to find the best fit for your enterprise. I love M-F but absolutely hated the sample from Lureworks/Spike it. Others may think I have it backwards.
