Crappieseeker,

It is super simple to make two color baits. The tail mold is the exact same design of the original, only shorter. You shoot the tail mold of 1.75" in one color, pull it out and lay it in the 2.5" mold and shoot that mold in a second color. The second color adhere's to the bottom color and makes a great connection which is durable and tough. What you end up with is a two color bait with the top .75" long and the bottom 1.75" long.

With the design of this bait the tail mold is the same diameter as the regular one, it will quickly taper from where the bait comes together. You can also buy the 2.5" mold, shoot the bait and then cut them with scissors or razors to what ever length you want - 2.25", 2", 1.75", 1.5" etc.

I've been experimenting with this bait a lot and have been very impressed with the results and the flexibility of it. I prefer the 2.5" bait but have been using the 1.75 with great success. I've also been cutting the baits at various lengths and still catching fish. You can take the 2.5 tail mold, which is 1.75" long shoot it one color, demold, cut with scissors, put it back in the mold and shoot two color baits which measure 1.75".

I'm also experimenting with shooting laminates, have made some cool looking baits but haven't figured out the two color injector just yet. I know where I made my mistakes and now just need to practice!!!!

I'm glad there are mold makers who are starting to make crappie molds and I'm excited to see the different baits available. I looked for about three years before I was able to get my hands on my first mold, it was custom and very expensive. It's great to see some good designs at reasonable prices.
