Yes I would imagine that a candy thermometer would work fine you probably would get a truer temperature reading use in a laser I type thermometer is somewhat off a few degrees every time you take it but it will give you the general temperature getting back to the metal syringe they are too big to do the fine work that I want to do . We do not recommend that small syringe for filling the main cavities or shooting your molds it's only meant to be used to fill in the backside of one a year baits in the mold .
You can use with a little modification a turkey injector. Pain to clean because the parts screw together. Run about 9 bucks.
