    Default Pallets for structure

I was looking the other day at work and noticed that we have an over abundance of wooden pallets out back. We usually burn these when there gets to be too many. Would it work to just take a stack of about 6-8 and nail a board to the outside of them and sink the stack for structure? Maybe offset each one a half turn to give it some overhangs? SHouldn't the pallets give the baitfish somewhere to hide?

Lm, Pallets make great structure but they take an incredible amount of weight to get down. Took me 8 cinderblocks just to sink one pallet with about 25 stakes on it! I would suggest that your first attempt be with one pallet with 15 or 20 up rights attached. Take about twice as much weight as you think that you"ll need and you'll probably be alright.

    Good Luck,

I was thinking of nailing several together with an 80 lb bag of crete on top to sink (maybe 2 bags now). See pic below:

The other thing you have to worry about is making a visit to your chiropractor. I've put out a couple of pallet beds and that's all i'm putting out. I switched to using a stake driver and driving stakes into the bottom of the lake.

THIS IS AN OLDER POST ON HOW I USE PALLETS. Note that we cut some boards and reattach them vetically. I put several to one spot. I make them short , about 25% of water depth here on Nimrod.

Try this. Sandwich four 6" x 24" pieces of pvc pipe between two pallets. Great little BG condo and the FH's will spawn on the under side of the pallets. Use a 60 lb. of quickcrete to hold it down. Secondl: Make a pyramid out of three pallets, and use a 60lb of quickcrete on the horizontal pallet to hold this one down also. I love pallets, they're just hard to keep from floating.

Nimrod, Thanks. I found the mentioned post very helpful. I am going out on one of the oxbow lakes near scott on Friday to look around for the perfect spot for several beds. I am going to try this method out. I will probably try to put out 4-5 this fall in the lakes, and maybe another 4-5 in the back water on the AR river (use alot of weight, maybe 80lb).
