Thread: Too much cover

OK now that you have one spot that is producing go make another spot somewhere else. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Someone may find the pile and set up camp on it. I put out at least 10 different piles. Always have a place to fish that is out of the ordinary. Somewhere other boaters are running over and don't bother to look.

Never heard of tooooo much structure... but more than one location is the best... The more the marrier....

Had one piece of brush located on a ledge that would produce a limit almost everytime. So, I thought that I would place several more pieces of brush around this one. It became very difficult to catch very many at a time at the original brushpile.
Now I will only add to a producing pile location after the fishing there starts to decline.

I like to keep brushpiles small. That way they are not so easy for all to find and take over (camp out on them as some say). Try building more about 75 or 100 feet each way on the same ledge or drop off. Then maybe more the same distance if they pay off. I make several in a row in productive areas, in a sense making a milk run. We like to move alot and stay on aggressive fish tightling jigs. You can start on one one of a run and with a good trolling motor go spot to spot and not fire up the outboard except going to the next run of piles.

The part about being in anoverlooked part of the lake is spot on. I won a tourney last June trolling cranks in a part of the lake that none of my club brothers fish. As we trolled down the shoreline I stumbled into a boo field. Couldn't believe my eyes!! dropped a marker, put up the cranks and anchored upwind. Swinging back and forth on a long anchor rope, my partner and I topped the field by 2 lbs. Of course it's a regular stop for everyone now, but it was un noticed for years. Placed 3rd last weekend in the same spot. Now that the temps are rising the fish are moving off of it. 5 buckets in the same area and move down the bank and do it again. This place is not near the channel, so that theory got blown up at this spot. I have a bunch of wood in the backyard that will be put to use soon, soon as I take out my boss and get some time.
