I keep hearing about these concrete test samples, but I don't know anywhere around here where you can get them.

Any commercial construction testing firm. We have them make what we call cylinders so they can break them and make sure the concrete is up to specs. They usually have a lot of leftovers unless we get a bad batch of concrete.
