    Default PVC Question

I know PVC is hard to see on a fish finder but I have a question, since the fish finder spots fish by their air bladder I wonder if you capped off some of your PVC where it holds air if it would show up better on your fish finder.

Part of the problem showing up is some build all verticle pvc and even wood does'nt show up as well that way.

Interesting question. I'd like to hear some chat on this one.

    Default PVC Tree

Here is one of my PVC trees. It shows up great on my side finder and bottom finder and has no caps to hold air. I think the challenge when looking for PVC is the fact that most of the time when people put out PVC the structure is relatively small. The porcupine has very little surface area for a sonar to bounce back from. Of course the cost of PVC is prohibitive when it comes to making very large structure like this one. I got lucky and hauled this off from a lady's house for free.

I think it is just the verticle pipes. Not much there for the wave to bounce off of.
I'm not convinced on the theory that sonar bounces off the air bladder. If that were true than why does it bounce off a brick or something solid. You can sink pvc sideways with no air and it will show up.
To answer your question - I would sink something with more volume with it to add more of a target for the sonar.

I would think that once the crappie move in, it should show up good!

I have different items in the pond for the bream and it has a tendency to keep the larger fish away. I made two different cages to raise small fish in before I turned them loose to mix with other fish. I like the looks of the pvc item shown and I would like to take my scrap pvc and make a similar shelter for smallfish.
