Being from a German background on one sidewe tend to stay away from the mayo and make our slaw with vinegar/oil/sugar. Turnips makes a good slaw. Then there is the favorite of sliced cucmbers and onions in the same brine as the above slaw. If you cut cucumbers lenghtwise and batter 'em they fry up real nice. If you have never fried up sweet potato chips they are great! We mix up bisquick and water and egg and a little oil and make a hoecake in a cast iron skillet. Add real butter and fig preserves. Honey heat up the grease will ya!
