Finally caught a limit of crappie today. Got em soakin in milk right now. Gonna have a fish fry tomorrow for the first time this year. I'm gettin hungry just thinkin about it. Those fried jalepeno poppers sounds pretty good and those pickled onions sounds really good too. Looks like I may be trying those with some jalepeno hushpuppies, steak fries and cole slaw. I've never fried crappie in bisquick pancake mix so I think I'll try some fried up like that too with some fried regular just in case. I'll defiantly be washing it down with some ice cold miller lite.

Most of the time I have the standard hushpuppies, french fries from fresh cut up potatoes and coleslaw. but occasionally I know this is going to sound crazy but I like fried crappie fillets with Turnip Greens and Cornbread

Growing up with my Grandparents, when we had fish, it was almost always with mashed taters, greens, & cornbread (pan fried).
I was in my mid twenties, post military service, and out on my own ... before I even tried eating fish with anything else :p Even then, I started out just exchanging the mashed taters for skillet fried sliced potatos :D
Even today, and pushing 60yrs old, potatos and something green accompany my fish on the plate, more often than not. And cornbread is always a possiblity !!
Guess we never really stray that far from our upbringing

One of my favorite sides with fried fish is wilted lettuce. For those unacquainted with this, you fill up a big bowl with leaf lettuce and cut up green onions from your garden, fry some bacon & remove bacon from grease, then pour hot bacon grease and some vinegar over salad, and finally add crumbled bacon and hard boiled egg slices and toss. I can make a meal out of this even without the fish, but the wilted lettuce along with some crispy fried fish, and some hand cut french fries cannot be beat unless you added some cornbread to the mix.

Hushpuppies, tater salad, greens (turnips or mustards), sliced tomato and green onions. Put your greens in a bowl with some of the pot liquor and crumble up a couple of the hushpuppies in it. Have mercy!!

Actually, I'd eat any darn side anybody has posted on here.

I like Liton Pasta Sides they come in a wide range of variety and it's a nice change from the norm.
