As for rusting out issues, for years I have been using metal pans that fit the bottom of the grill well to keep the fire in, not thin aluminum foil pans or just foil, but good well made pans. Makes it easier to clean out, too. Aluminum is a plus, Walmart and others carry them, just know your dimensions. I have not had a grill to rust out in many years.
Just get your measurements for your grill, and a couple of inches or so high on the sides.
I only use Kingsford or Royal Oak Charcoal.
