My brother-in-law made a big pot of pintos for our annual Christmas get-together. He had some hamhock in there with some onion.......cooked them all day until they kinda had a gravy all over them. He does them right!

Now if I could only figure out how my grandma used to cook cabbage, I would be set. I have never in my life found anyone who could cook cabbage down like Mama Flossie did. We lost her in 1995 at the age of 87 and I've not had good cabbage since. I know she used bacon grease and she always put a little sugar in there, but I can't get it right.
