Default Straining or Filtering Cooking Oil

Does anyone have good way to filter your used oil? I have tried several different things but have not had good luck with it. With the cost of peanut oil I try to get as many uses as possible. Thanks

Ok.. First off ditch the Peanut Oil and check out Rice Bran oil!
It gets hotter than peanut oil and taste better than vegetable oil!

I use a Cajun Fryer, it has a drain valve.
I purchased a funnel and filters from Gander Mtn. Works GREAT! I just filter it back into my jugs. I have used oil regularly for over 2 years!

In a cast iron dutch oven I will take a NEW dress sock and line a mason jar and filter it through the sock.

    Hope this helps!

I use a colander lined with paper towels, placed over a stockpot. I feel like hot oil filters easier, and don't want to put the hot oil into plastic.

Forget all the straining. I use a fry daddy. I use peanut oil. When I am done cooking, I drop 2 slices of cheese in the oil while it is still hot. you will notice it appears to sink to the bottom, while hole. In a few seconds the oil will begin to boil really hard. It will boil for a few seconds. take a large spoon and skim the top of the oil. All of the batter that has fallen off of the fish will be stuck to the melted cheese and will float to the top. you are now ready for the next fish cook out.

Use paint filters from an auto paint store. Works really good. Put some cheese cloth in it and it's great. But I am going to try the cheese thing.

I use the cheapest vegetable oil I can buy. As far as straining....I bust the end of the bottle off on the edge of the bar and strain it through my teeth

X2 on the paint filters, their paper and you can throw them away after use, never tried the cheese cloth. Also use a VERY fine mesh metal strainer.

A word of caution. Make certain she is not wearing the panty hose!

I use Canola Oil strain it through a wire mesh screen. Would like to make a setup to use a better filter.
