No issues with the freezer. I think it's probably the salt or the water. The fish don't tasted or smell spoiled, they just have a slight chlorine or chemical smell and taste, but what has me stumped is it's not all of them. It seems like just a bag or so out of 4 or 5. I do mine the same way, soak in salt water then rinse off & freeze in water. Try soaking them in milk a couple of hours after you thaw them. Don't remember where I heard this but I have been doing it for years & it seems to help, even after they have been in the freezer a long time.
