    Dad and I made a run to poverty point this morning. Fished deep water on south end. Started out well on shiners. They boated 11 out of the first 12 fish and out fished jigs all day. The best jig combo I got on was key lime pie on a pink head, "yes I did fish plastic today" it caught the last 6 or 7 jig fish.

    We ended up with 34 keepers fishing 16' to 18' deep.

    It's funny to listen to the regulars over there complain about how bad it is compared to how good it used to be. I think to myself the fishing must not be too bad if I keep seeing the same group of guys fishing there every time I go year after year....

      don't you love it when guys bitch about how it used to be so good? when you are catching cooler full of nice slabs? what's wrong with that? Plus fishing with Dad is always special. good for you two!

      Nice fish. Might try that color combo this year. If I can get my wife & myself healed up that is. I deal w heart failure. She's fighting stage 4 gbm on her brain.
