....I kept the ones large enuff to fillet, so we came home with 25 fairly decent sized crappie
Water up Rooty Creek was stained in the main Creek with a heavier stain in the back of the coves, water temps ranged from 58 in the morning to 62 in the afternoon
we were spider rigging from .3 to .6 mph ....we used minnows all day
we did pick up 3 of the nicer fish out in the channel, they were suspended in about 14' of water over a 19 foot bottom, but the majority of the fish we caught were in 9-11 foot of water
yep..we actually had a blast...just being out with my son and his friend was time well spent....I actually sat on the leaning post of my bay boat all day, never touched a pole except to either re-rig one after a break off or to try and untangle the lines after the boys had a "oops" moment....I never caught a fish all day, and looking back, that was ok because I got to watch a couple of young friends having fun and growing up with a fishing pole in there hands......now I kind of understand that crazy/strange/odd look I would sometimes catch a glimpse of from my father all those years ago, he had that pole in my hand at a very early age and it just seemed to have stuck with me......THANKS DAD!!!!! I still love ya and miss ya every day!!!!!!
