I've been off the water for the past week - out of town on family business and doing honey-do's. I've been watching the lake level and it is 15 foot in flood stage and falling very slowly. I plan on being back on the water in the next couple of days looking for the fish but I know it's going to be tough. I'm sure most of the boat ramps are closed but there may be a few places you can manage to launch a boat like the parking lot road at Self Creek Marina. Wished I could be more optimistic especially when it's not putting groceries on the table and paying the bills, such is the life of a farmer and fishing guide. We lived through it last year and I'm sure we'll survive it this year. I haven't done it in a while but I'm going to troll some crankbaits over the flooded points. As soon as the water gets back to normal the crappie should be stacked up and it'll be time to bait up spots for catfish.
