Hey guys,
Headed up from LA this weekend to camp at lake greeson, hoping to maybe get some tips on that lake, what to look for and if any crappie are biting or not? Maybe the bream are still spawning? I plan on fishing for the stripers in the mornings and evenings but what is good during the day. Cajun Dave reffered me to this board said there was alot of good folks. Thanks
Nathan

If you are fishing with Darryl and/or Jerry, does not matter what the water is, you will catch some fish.

Jerry may still be in Canada. I haven't seen a report from Darryl. He is probably still eating pork rinds.
Greeson is higher than it has been in the last 40 years. I saw a report that the Narrows Camp ground is still open. When I was there for the Crappie Camp a couple of weeks ago, I only saw two crappie caught. They were just out of the woods in about 12' of water. They were both caught on darker colored jigs.
I wished I could give you a more enthusiastic report.

Since you are after stripers, things may fall into place for you--The Narrows campground is on the deep end of the lake where I assume you may be fishing part of the time. If you are going to camp on that end of the lake check with the good folks at Swaha Lodge & Marina for any questions you may have about the fishing etc.
I've been off the water for the past week - out of town on family business and doing honey-do's. I've been watching the lake level and it is 15 foot in flood stage and falling very slowly. I plan on being back on the water in the next couple of days looking for the fish but I know it's going to be tough. I'm sure most of the boat ramps are closed but there may be a few places you can manage to launch a boat like the parking lot road at Self Creek Marina. Wished I could be more optimistic especially when it's not putting groceries on the table and paying the bills, such is the life of a farmer and fishing guide. We lived through it last year and I'm sure we'll survive it this year. I haven't done it in a while but I'm going to troll some crankbaits over the flooded points. As soon as the water gets back to normal the crappie should be stacked up and it'll be time to bait up spots for catfish.

last I heard most campgrounds and ramps are still closed. they are finally generating and releasing water from the flood gates, levels should start dropping quickly for the next week or so
Thanks Guys,
That Is Some Terrible News Though,! I Will Call The State Park In The A.m. Since That Is Where We Will Be Staying. 15 Ft Above Flood Stage? That Is Crazy. Oh Well
Thanks Again Nathan
You're gonna have a super tough time.
Might try drop-shotting the bream. You can bet they'll be spawning but they will be deep. Just find the gravel bottom and go into a search until you find a few.
The bream will be your best bet. The high water will dictate a slow day most likely.
