    Default Where did they go?

L.A, now that the cold weather is going to set in for the next 3 mornings, where do you think they are going to go? I've been ripping them in 8 to 9 foot of water around tree tops and now I've moved to Connerly trying to catch them in 4 to 5 foot of water. I'm a novice crappie fishmen when it come to shallow water fishing. I caught a few deep but then I shallowed up and started getting more bites but I didn't catch any BIG fish. I'm not asking for your secret spot or gps cord. but what can I do to make my day a little better. Blue thunder is my favorite jig along with blue and white slab slayers but they didn't want today. Thanks for the help.

I have been fishing in the deeper water in Connerly, like you were saying the shallow water seem to have the smaller crappie. With the cool weather they will stay in the deeper water a while longer, just watch your depthfinder for structure and they will be there, usually 6-8 ft deep, in 8-10 ft of water. Where you have been catching them in 8-9 ft. should be good again with the cold weather. Even when it starts warming up again, and the water temp is approaching 60 and the males move up shallow, the females are still going to stay deeper staging at 5-7 ft. I usually keep targeting them until it's warm enough for them to go shallow and spawn.

Welcome to the board Arkdrakehunter! I see you are from Hamburg. That is where I grew up and where most of my family still lives. There are a lot of very good Crappie fishermen in Ashley County!

Debating on crappie fishing on Connerly or Catfishing with yo yos at Eagle Lake Wednseday. Will Connerly be too muddy by Wednesday? If it's muddy then there will be 30 of us fishing the same tops around the dam.

Vetrock, I don't think it will be very muddy in Connerly since they only got .56 inches of rain in the past 4 days. So shouldn't have had too much runoff with that much rain. I'm taking off Thur. and Fri. this week to fish down there. They were doing good all up and down the bayou around structure the later part of last week.
