Default Caught a few on LM

Got off work a little early today and made it out to Lake Monticello by 3:30 knowing I didn't have long to fish plus the wind was blowing. Got lucky and had a limit by 5:00. Most were on the small side for LM with one going around a pound and a half. But it was a blast anyway.

Think I saw you today luvpt. I was in the camo war eagle. Are you the camo boat with the spider rig on the front? If so, I saw you pulling them in. You are going to have to show me how that is done!

Way to go Steve, that's some good fishing for that amount of time.

    A bad day of fishing
beats a good day at work.

Good Job! It's funny, days that you expect the least seem to turn into the best. Were they down on the bottom?

Yea, fishing three cranks off the bottom in 49-55 FOW. It ain't like that all the time. I went out there on Tuesday evening with 18-20 mph winds and Cold; caught three in 2 1/2 hrs. All less than half a pound but I got a lot of practice handling the boat in the wind.....needless to say I had the whole lake to myself! Then got checked by the game warden when I loaded the boat.....I think he just wanted to see who was crazy enough to be out in the middle of the lake fishing in those whitecaps!

luvpt is the resident pro on LM. You will be hard pressed to find a better crappie fisherman than him on this lake. Steve is also as fine a man as he is a crappie fisherman.

I fished near him one day and he was wearing them out. He spent some time with me trying to get me on track, (with limited success), but his efforts were appreciated was a big help. When we left, he was very gracious in giving us his catch.

Kudos to most of the people on this board. Not only are there some very good crappie fisherman on here, but some fine people also.

    Best wishes to all.....

How fast are you trolling the crank baits this time of year?
